President's Message

It is my great honor to serve as President of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE). As we begin a new term, I would like to share our aspirations for the Academy and the priorities that will guide our work in the years ahead.

Engineering, innovation and technology are transforming every aspect of society. Hong Kong is well positioned to contribute to this transformation through its strong research capability, international outlook, professional expertise and close connections with the Greater Bay Area and the wider world. HKAE will continue to bring together the most accomplished leaders from academia and industry to promote engineering excellence and support the city’s development as an international innovation and technology center.

A key priority will be to enhance the Academy’s visibility and influence in Hong Kong SAR and the world. Through student competitions, world summits, industrial visits, technical talks, prestigious award programmes and other activities, HKAE will showcase Hong Kong’s remarkable engineering achievements, promote public understanding of engineering, and foster international exchange and collaboration with universities, research institutes, industrial companies and professional bodies worldwide. These efforts will support knowledge sharing, talent development and innovation, while reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a bridge between the Chinese Mainland and the international community.

Nurturing young talents will remain central to our mission. The Academy will support young engineers, students and aspiring innovators through mentorship, outreach and engagement programmes. By inspiring the next generation to pursue engineering and technology, we aim to help develop Hong Kong SAR to become an international hub for education and a leading international center for innovation and technology.

Looking ahead, HKAE will continue to contribute its professional expertise to Hong Kong’s development and to the needs of our country. With the collective support of our Fellows, Council Members, partners and friends, the Academy will strive to advance engineering, foster innovation and create meaningful impact for the community.

I look forward to working with all of you to take HKAE to new heights and to realize our shared vision for Hong Kong SAR, the Greater Bay Area, and beyond.
