Profile

Professor Anderson Shum Ho-cheung is the Vice-President (Research) and the Chair Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. Previously, he served as Associate Vice-President (Research and Innovation) (2021-2024) and Full Professor (Tenured) (2019-2024) at The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on aqueous two-phase systems, emulsions, biomicrofluidics, biomedical engineering and soft matter.

Professor Shum is a recipient of the 15th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize by Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE, 2024), awardee of Research Grants Council of Hong Kong Senior Research Fellow Scheme (SRFS, 2024) and of Croucher Senior Research Fellowship (2020).
