Professor Angus Yip obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He served as a faculty member at South China University of Technology (SCUT) from 2013 to 2020, prior to his appointment at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) in 2021. At CityUHK, he holds the position of Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Energy and Environment, and serves as Associate Director at the Hong Kong Institute for Clean Energy (HKICE). His research uses an integrated approach combining materials, interface, and device engineering to improve polymer and perovskite optoelectronic devices. His scholarly contributions include over 300 publications, an H-index of 108, and more than 45,000 citations, securing his status as Clarivate’s "Highly Cited Researcher" from 2014 to 2024. His research contributions have been honored with membership in the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences (YASHK) in 2022, the International Union of Materials Research Societies-Frontier Materials Young Scientist Award (IUMRS-FMYSA) in 2023, and the Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He also received the prestigious Hong Kong Engineering Science and Technology (HKEST) Award in 2023. His pioneering efforts have resulted in the formation of spinoff companies that advance photovoltaic technology, thereby enhancing the deployment of renewable energy and supporting Hong Kong’s sustainable development.
